Overview

The Raj Niwas Palace in Dholpur is a magnificent structure made of red sandstone, which is more renowned than any precious gems it may possess. In 1779, the British East India Company declared Dholpur a protectorate, which became a part of India in 1949. The princely state ceased to exist in 1956, but the Dholpur Palace, constructed in 1876 to welcome HRH Albert Edward, still stands as a testament to the vibrant history and rich heritage of the region.

The Raj Niwas Palace, also known as the Dholpur Palace, is an enchanting portal that takes visitors on a mesmerizing journey back in time. Once the residence of generations of Royals, this converted palace continues to radiate the magnificence of Rajasthani architecture from that era. After extensive renovations, the palace is more dazzling than ever before. Its unassuming red stone exterior belies the lavishness of its interiors. The palace is a rare and exceptional example of the Indian fascination with European, particularly Dutch ceramics.

Situated in a lush 13-acre garden, the palace grounds are home to peacocks and various bird species that migrate from the nearby National Chambal Sanctuary. The palace boasts 40 guest rooms across three different categories, making it an ideal place to stay.
